Authors' Note: It all started so innocently... Our version of the Sharpe universe is an incomprehensible jumble of books and movies, since we took what we liked best from both. Sharpe and Harper's physical appearance and the Chosen Men are movie-verse, but most of the events and Sharpe's past are book-verse. This story happens between "Havoc" and "Eagle" in book-verse and between "Rifles" and "Eagle" in movie-verse.

Just a quick one to say we are still working on Chapter Two, but RL has dumped a metric shedload of stuff on both kma and sharpiefan and we aren't quite sure when we'll manage to patch the plotholes up properly. At the moment, it rather resembles a fishing net...
